More gorgeous tulips

OK...I might be hooked. There is a great possibility that I will be buying more and more tulips.
They are so lush and colourful. LOVE the ones that look like peonies . But the ones that blush? Delicate, subtle and graceful. Oh my, it is a right show.

I had no idea that tulips would fascinate me. Go figure.

April was a glorious month.

So during this month, we (my friend Liz and I) worked like crazy. I spoke about my beloved Auntie Dot in previous posts. She was a fantastic homemaker and gardener. Everything was always done to an exceptional quality. She was 98 years old when she passed on.
I was lucky enough to be able to take some of her plants. It took Liz and I (Liz digging) (me directing) a full day to take up and replant the plants.
I also received her old wagon wheel and birdbath for my garden. I am filled with joe every single time that I look at them because they were hers and she would adore how they look and add to my garden.
Here are some pictures of the integration of her plants into my garden and the transformations that had to take place in order to fit everything in.

This is one of her old, old peonies. I broke the original plant up into several parts. Looks pretty sad at this point. I added Epsom Salts to every transplant and they all took.

This is a new bed that we created . I transplanted a piece of daisy and geranium.

The bottom two plants are from Auntie Dot's. I am not fond of them but they are part of her garden so now they are part of mine!

This is a hosta that we had to move in order to fit in new plants.

This pot was in My aunt's backyard as well. It may have been a pickle jar but I don't really know.

Oh my. This is the birdbath from my childhood. My cousins asked me what I would like from Auntie Dot's and I said "The birdbath".  What a centrepiece. In the background, you can see an old clematis vine that we also moved and a peony to the right of the birdbath. Notice that the new plantings are always planted with Seasoil. Always. For years now.

I also took pieces of roses. Some looked dead but have come back.

More peony and a poppy.

This is another bed that we enlarged to allow for more plants. That rose is doing very well. I have no idea about it...colour, type etc...but we will see.

Still in March and April.....

This has been a spectacular year for the garden. There have been flowers, texture and form for months. I became totally fascinated by it and stopped writing but took a lot of pictures. For the first time ever (kind of), I read up on when and how to prune clematis, wisteria, tree peonies, lavender and hydrangeas. I was out in late February pruning back some of my clematis, my tree peony and my poor wee wisteria. And it definitely made a difference. I also put chicken poop on my roses and Epsom Salts were sprinkled on pretty much anything and everything at the same time. Interesting. Things greened up and the hydrangea leaves are no longer veined and light green. My problem is that I don't know if it was the chicken poop or the Epsom Salts. Over-enthusiastic and under-organized. Typical!

Tulips on the deck. Seriously glorious. I enjoyed them every single day. They changed shape and colour and were an absolute joy. Next year, I will plant way more. Way more.

It has been awhile..

So, as usual, things have been crazy around here. Such a surprise!
How can I explain? Adults and kids have been sick, infected and one child broke his leg. Arg. So now I  really need to catch up.
Firstly, I did change up some things this year. I fed the garden earlier (late February, early March) and with different products. I used dried chicken poop from Botanus that you just sprinkle about and spray kelp liquid from Dykhof that I sprayed on everything. The interesting thing is that I sprinkled chicken poop on my east gardens and sprayed kelp on my west ones. I sprinkled Epsom Salts on anything new and on practically anything else.
My observations? My east gardens have gone ape poop! Seriously, out of control. Everything is blooming, sprouting new shoots and is gargantuan. The west gardens are newer and more manageable but somethings seem to be doing absurdly well for early in the season. Mostly the hydrangeas and one of my roses.
Next year, I intend to sprinkle the poop on everything And to spray kelp And to use Epsom salts. I will definitely do this early in the season again just to see how things go. As for the Epsom Salts? hmmm. I don't know. I think that it helps with the rooting of any new plant for sure but otherwise...I don't know. I am going to put it on a patch of my lawn and see how it does. Thicker, greener grass or not? This is the question.
Enough talk. The proof is in the pictures. Here we go....

This is my first year of doing tulips and daffodils. They were amazing. All of these pictures were taken in March and April 2014.
